OUR NAME IS CHANGED

We have changed our name from the NEW TRADITION COALITION to DRAW THE LINE LAWRENCE so it better fits our purpose and mission. We call on all community members to come together and DRAW THE LINE on underage drinking and drug use for a healthier and safer place to live.

JASON WREN, DIED AT AGE 19

In light of the tragic death of Jason Wren, we want to do something to keep this from happening again. Our focus is parent education so, below is a link about facts on alcohol poisoning. The article teaches signs, symptoms and most importantly, what to do to help a person who has drunk too much. Young people in Lawrence need to know that although drinking underage is illegal, they need to call for help when a friend is in trouble. Jason lived here in Lawrence. He died this week after a night of binge drinking. Share this web site and flyer with your teens. It may help save a life. The Lawrence community grieves the loss of such a young life. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. http://www.collegedrinkingprevention.gov/OtherAlcoholInformation/factsAboutAlcoholPoisoning.aspx

Thank you for doing this. Our kids do need to know these things. I only wished SOMEONE in his frat had known what to do and maybe it wouldn't have been.

According to his "brothers" he was put to bed twice, the first when he passed out and the second when he got up. That's really all we know. As a new pledge if is very surprising that they are claiming there was no hazing with him at all. Of course the "brothers" have chosen not to talk with the press. If it's the truth then they should talk, but they're not.

Thanks again, and I can only hope others will not let their friends "sleep it off".

To Anonymous,

You do not have a clue as to the facts. If you did, even the most biased person could not take the position you have taken.
